Against innovation decline – new report of EISIE
The diagnosis presented in the report concerns the causes and effects of innovation decline in Poland. A number of examples of the best world approaches and practices are described regarding innovation and science policies and management.
Four broad topics are covered by the recent report the European Institute of Social Industrial Engineering:
- Cultural, ideological and political barriers to innovation in Poland,
- Practice of business-science collaboration,
- Governance of research establishments and financing science,
- The issues of enterprises’ innovation.
The diagnosis included in first three parts of the report concerns the causes and effects of innovation decline in Poland. It is presented together with a number of examples of the best world approaches and practices regarding innovation and science policies and management. Fourth part is the review of the state-of-the-art research on innovation process. The report is supplemented with a discussion of some issues of the measurement of innovation in public and international statistics of innovation.
The report, titled „The practice of innovation and collaboration of enterprises in Poland with science”, has been completed at the request of The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR), and submitted at the end of March, 2008. It will be presented soon to the public debate, once the accompanying works on specific measures to foster applied research in Poland are finished.
The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR) is a government funded agency. It was established in July 2007 to implement priority tasks in the field of Polish scientific and innovative policy and is a unique state agency to perform public tasks in that area.
